As the community grows, I thought it would be fun to have a place where people can introduce themselves to one another. Obviously it’s not an obligation, and feel free to leave as little or as much as you’d like. I’ll start.
My name is Sam (photo in profile & down below). I’m originally from the United States (Philadelphia). These days, I live my life out of a backpack. For the past 2+ years I’ve been on the road. I started in southeast asia, spending time in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. To say it was a life-changing experience would be a the understatement of my life. While in Cambodia, I serendipitously met @kristof. We got to talking about, well, life, and its complexities and not long after, I was in Ibiza joining the ThreeFold community.
Prior to that, I spent eight years in New York City (with a year in the middle in San Francisco), working for VaynerMedia, a now well-known digital advertising agency. (I actually ended up there quite serendipitously as well. But that’s for another day.) I was fortunate to be there from the start, when we were just four people in a conference room, and saw the company grow all the way up to 700+ and four offices in two continents by the time I left.
New places, cultures, and experiences bring me joy. I see them as opportunities to learn and evolve and open my mind. Having been fortunate to travel quite a bit, particularly in the last few years, I’m inspired by the beauty of our differences, yet humbled by the similarities of our desires. I’m a bit idealistic, with some cynicism sprinkled in. I envision a world without borders. Really, I just want everyone to have the same opportunities. We have so much to learn from each other if we’d just open our eyes and our ears and our hearts. I see ThreeFold as an endeavor that can help bring great solutions to our world.
Other things about me:
- I love my family, friends, animals, sports, food, & chocolate.
- I have sixteen or seventeen tattoos. Most of them relate to a moment or time period in my life.
- I once got to shake Barack Obama’s hand after watching him miss his par putt on the 18th hole.
- I believe that change is the only constant, so we might as well get used to it.
- I live in the grey. For me, nothing is black and white – and nobody really knows anything.
